“…I often feel food is my best friend…
…and yet sometimes my worst enemy.”

Do I, or someone I love, have an eating disorder?

  1. I worry about gaining weight.
  2. I am “good” or “bad” depending on what food I eat.
  3. I often try to hide how much I eat.
  4. I have, or thought about vomiting as a means of weight control.
  5. I have been on more diets than I can count.
  6. I believe I will be happy when I am at the right weight.

If you have answered “yes” to two or more of these questions you may have disordered eating. For further assessment you may want to see a therapist. At New Beginnings Counseling we are ready to assist you with this assessment. Please call Carolyn Pickler at 330-666-5004 or email Carolyn@newbeginningscounseling.org for a free 30 minute consultation. JoAnna Cline can be reached at 330-808-1311 or email JoAnna@newbeginningscounseling.org.

People do recover from eating disorders; however most of those that recover seek professional help. At New Beginnings Counseling we understand this is difficult and we support your courage in taking the first step by calling a professional specializing in eating disorders.

At New Beginnings Counseling, we believe a team approach is best in recovering from an eating disorder. We will work with your medical doctor and dietitian. When necessary we will also communicate with psychiatrists. As appropriate we will engage in family therapy as a way to increase understanding of eating disorders, develop communication skills between family members and to increase awareness on being supportive to the loved one struggling with an eating disorder.

Support Groups are available for persons struggling with eating disorders, family and friends and teens.
